PDA Then and Now
by Kevin Synnott
I was thirteen
years old in 1958 walking along a sidewalk
holding hands with a girl. I said goodbye and
headed home. It took about ten minutes to reach
home. Someone had already called my mother to
inform her that "He was at it again."
Public
displays of affection are different today. One
can observe a couple in any mall who are "an
item." The girl puts her left hand in the
boy's back left pocket, the boy puts his right
hand in the girl's right back pocket, and they
waddle through the mall. I never would have seen
fourteen if I had thought of that when I was
thirteen.
