It was many and
many a year ago,
In a land that begins with C.,
That I loved a maiden you all should know,
By the name of Anapest Lee.
And we loved with a love that was more
than love,
I and my Anapest Lee.When the sun did not shine,
It was too wet to play,
So wed sit there, we two,
On a cold, cold, wet day,
In our kingdom by the sea,
With no other thought and no other wish,
Than to love and be loved by we.
But then something
went bump,
And that bump made us jump,
In our kingdom by the sea,
And the Feline of Fate,
Said, My dears, Ive a date,
With the beautiful Anapest Lee.
With unfortunate Anapest Lee.
But our fish he
said, No!
Make this furry thing go,
For I am far wiser than thee,
And a thing or two know,
So make this cat row,
Back into the bottomless sea,
To his cat-box in the sea.
But the feline was
quick,
And for his next trick,
Before natural eyes could see,
He bore her away,
And till this very day,
Shes a prisoner under the sea,
In a sepulcher in the sea.
But the moon never
beams,
Without bringing me dreams,
Of my beautiful Anapest Lee,
And the stars never shine,
On the bounteous brine,
In our kingdom in the sea,
Without bringing me fears,
That a lifetime of tears,
Has been fated for her and me,
Since the light of my life,
My most aqueous wife,
Was purloined away to the sea.
