A Different
Perspective

Im
getting a tattoo of a polar bear! Stacey
said as she bounced down the stairs.
Josh rolled
his eyes. Stacey changed her decision on a tattoo
as much as his mother dyed her hair. Come to
think of it, he didnt know what his
mothers original hair color was...
Should I
call up the artist? he asked.
Oh no, I
want to think on it a bit.
He leaned into
his hand to hide a smile as he jotted down the
grocery list.
Last week, she
was contemplating a unicorn. He told her that
would be very horny of her. Shed given him
a cold stare, so he replied, Maybe I got
that wrong. Maybe ornery was a better word.
He was still
waiting for the day she woke up and said, I
want a chili dog on my arm! He needed
something a bit more absurd than a fairy, pony,
caterpillar, butterfly (yes, a caterpillar and a
butterfly were considered simultaneously at one
point), or a cockatoo.
Stacey grabbed
the car keys.
Are you
ready?
Josh twisted
his right leg and leaned into the counter.
He thumped his pen against the marble.
Nope,
still confirming the list.
Stacy sighed.
Josh looked up
and then back at the list. He had five cookbooks
open in front of him.
Honey,
what are you cooking tonight? Stacey asked.
Well, I
was thinking tuna casserole, but then I came
across this mango fish dish and thought...
Oh boy,
here we go again.
Whats
that supposed to mean?
Well,
honestly, you change your mind about cooking as
much as I change mine about tattoos.
Josh opened
his mouth, then shut it.
What?
You dont think I know what youre
smiling about? Men... Stacey said.
She pulled on
her jacket and pushed her hair back.
Ill
be in the car. Why dont you bring the
cookbooks along?
