Thinking
by Ian Curtress
There was a
situation a while ago when I thought,
whats in his mind
It would probably have made me smile Im
sure, certainly nothing unkind
Then my mind wandered down the what
if route. As so often its
inclined to do
Reading someones thoughts will have
crossed everyones mind. Be honest,
even you.
Just as well we cannot read others
thoughts. Thoughts we can only surmise
To know clearly what another is thinking
would surely be rather unwise
Many times it would be wonderful, give
our heart a comforting glow
On other occasions it could be of course,
things we had no wish to know
But then they would know we know what
theyre thinking
and think different thoughts, reducing
the chance of offence
So to have any meaningful thoughts I
suppose, surely wouldnt make any
sense
Or would it mean we would all think
kindly of others.
Acknowledge their virtues, not always
looking for faults
Look to ourselves and be critical. No
excuses like just out of salts
This might work on a one to one basis,
but what if it were in a group
Permutations beyond comprehension. Become
a narcissistic soup
No. Perhaps best the status quo. Just a
nod and a wink
We all watch our behaviour anyway. After
all what would everyone think. |
