The Figure
by Ian Curtress
He looked but did
not see, the distant figure in the valley
by the sea
Old eyes blinded by sadness, oak tree
years taken toll
#######cotton wool mind finding
paths to comprehend a sea fog vision
Days uncounted. Empty nights. A cameo
never to be shared as were the years
No remission
Why did he not enjoy with her the swim
that dreadful morn as they had done every
day of those euphoric weeks since they
had met.
###############Swam like a mermaid
My name she said is Hetty in that angel
voice still ringing in his ears
###I have earned a glorious
months vacation.
#############Once again those burning
tears
Surely a match made in heaven, both
wrapped in stardust
#################joined in Body and in Soul
Magic hours in whirlwind days, exotic
food, cooling showers
He had lived a life, bland. Made no
friends, vacant stares soon offend
####The figure now swims out to
sea
#######an appointment overdue at
last now free
The figure he looked but could not see
######################now recognised
#############################For it is He |
