Clare

Efforts made to
avoid cliche trite
When writing to one so erudite
Words must come from the heart
Ground rules made, from the start
I too regret that time is pressing
When my visit is just for dressings
How I long for a smiling chat
Nothing dire, just this and that
We all have our ups and downs
Some days the smiles lose out to frowns
But then something written or something
said
Acts like adrenaline inside my head
You forget your ancient frame
And for while youre young again
Someone has the blessed gift
To touch the spot, to spirits lift
So often missed, not understood
Our frame, our looks, no longer good
Ability to love and show affection
Lies dormant craving for attention
How true it is, my first thought
What matters most cannot be bought
Affection and respect for valued friends
Never cause to make amends
So look around with refreshed eyes
and be taken by surprise
at those whose day would be one of joy
with just a smile, or kind words employ
We just have time between my yelps
For a quick pun challenge, it really
helps
Then the cheerios dont come with
ease
Its time to say next one
please
It costs so little in time and thought
And you enjoy the pleasure brought
Your remembered lines for all to see
have touched the spot Dear Clare....
.... as you can see. |
