A History Lesson

She leaned upon
the Pont Neuf Bridge
Its majestic arches curving below
Where a river flowed by languidly
A soft round thigh did she show
It took 26 years to build the
bridge
Completed in 1604
I estimated her age at about 21
Perhaps less maybe more
The oldest bridge in ol' Paris
Covered with carvings and frill
One could see that the femme
de la mer
Out of her blouse did spill
This is a lesson in history
Do your best to remember it so
But don't forget the beautiful maiden
If ever to Paris you go |
